Mining Shards are a type of Skilling Shard associated with Mining. They are used in the Crafting, Augmenting or Researching of mining related gear.

Acquisition

Mining Shards can be acquired passively every 5 minutes by mining. This rate can be adjusted by equipping either a Newbie Adventurer's Backpack or Dwarven Adventurer's Backpack which gives a +10% / +20% chance for an additional Skilling Shard.

Shards are non tradeable however they can be earned in combat:

Quests

• Earn 1000 Mining Shards by completing the Mining Equipment quest.

• Turn in 9000 Mining Shards to help finish the Legendary Pickaxe quest to receive a Dwarven Rocksmasher and unlock its crafting recipe.

Crafting Uses

The mining set recipes must be unlocked by completing the Mining Equipment quest before they can be crafted.
