Smithing is a production skill through which players smelt metal bars from their respective Ores using Heat and sometimes other materials at one of three forges: the City Forge, Dwarven Forge or Volcanic Forge. As the companion skill of Mining, which procures the necessary raw resources, smithing may also yield other byproducts through refinement.

Uses
Many items created from Smithing products (or their resulting refinement byproducts) are useful in combat and the leveling of other skills such as Crafting or Enchanting. Smithing can be a lucrative way to earn gold, as the supplies are readily or cheaply available in comparison to the high demand for metal bars in the Marketplace.
Speed
Smithing speed is based on your Smithing level. The formula for smithing speed is:

Gloves, Boots, Tongs | 34 | 400 | 40 | Air, Earth, Fire, Cosmic | Gain a mysterious chance to find gems and other rare materials while smithing. Each forge is designed to
extract different materials. The rarest of materials requires the hottest of forges and highest tier ores to be smelted. |

Boots, Gloves | 46 | 600 | 50 | Earth, Fire, Chaos | Gain a 4% chance per smithing/cooking action to complete another smithing/cooking action.
Caps at 80% strength; every 25% strength increases the number of times inferno can proc by 1. For example at strength 1 (4%) it can proc once, at strength 7 (28%) it can proc twice, etc. |
