Runecrafting
The Runecrafting skill is a combination of Runecrafting, Weaving, and Affix Warding. Runecrafting lets players use essence to create runes that have many uses throughout the game. Weaving lets players weave cloth that is used to craft the majority of magic equipment and enhance unique items. Affix Warding allows players to further enhance there gear to help with making certain tasks easier.

Runecrafting
Runecrafting allows players to create runes from
Rune Slate (acquired through Mining) and essences. These runes are required for Scrollcrafting, using magic abilities, consumed by some Enchantments and for Crafting certain items.
Every 20 levels will increase the number of runes crafted in an action by 1. Intermediary levels will get a chance to craft an additional rune depending on how close it is to the next 20 level breakpoint.
Runes/Essence
To start crafting runes, players must first gather essence by performing certain activities.
Rune Slates and 400 essence are used for each runecrafting action. Used Essence can be reduced with the Runecrafting enchantment but a minimum of 400 is required to start crafting.
Crafting runes always provides 25 runecrafting experience for each runecrafting action.
Three essence is gathered for each relevant action and can be increased with the Enlightenment enchantment or by consuming the corresponding talisman.

Talisman
Talismans are objects found from many different sources. Talismans can be consumed, permanently yielding an additional six essence for the relevant skill. Each talisman of the same type consumed after the first will grant 35,000 - 50,000 essence to that type.
Talismans are uncommon items obtained when opening chests, geodes, bird's nests, sunken treasures, and satchels. Many monsters drop talismans rarely, including the giants of the Valley of Giants.
Runecrafting Speed
Runecrafting speed is determined by the following formula:
Cloth Weaving
Cloth Weaving allows the production of cloth used in crafting and enchanting most magic equipment and items. Weaving uses fibers, which are found while fishing. The Scroll of the Fiber Finder will enhance equipment to increase the chances of finding fibers. Gear with the Fiber Snagging buff will provide a chance for a caught fish to be transformed into a fiber.
There are 7 tiers of cloth that can be woven.
| Cloth | Fiber | # Of Fibers per Action | Experience |
|---|---|---|---|
Rough Cloth |
Aqueous Grass |
5 | 50 |
Restored Cloth |
Aqueous Grass |
10 | 75 |
Lesser Cloth |
Water Weeds |
5 | 125 |
Imbued Cloth |
River Vines |
5 | 200 |
Major Cloth |
Violet Ribbons |
5 | 300 |
Greater Cloth |
White Reeds |
5 | 500 |
Elder Cloth |
Ancient Kelp |
5 | 750 |
The time to weave cloth increases with the tier of the cloth. Enchantments such as Haste or Empowered Haste will decrease cloth weaving time.
Using the Fibrous Fabrication enchantment or equipment like the Elven Logistics Pendant, will reduce the fiber cost per action.
All cloth have a small chance based on runecrafting level and cloth tier to produce an Ancient Cloth Fragment, which are used to craft the Abandoned Academy Scroll to access the Abandoned Academy Base.

Affixing
Affixing is a subskill that allows you to enhance your gear beyond the amount enchantments allow you to, ranging from bonus stats to increased odds of actions in a skill, at the cost of Runic Dust. For example, you can affix a Dwarven Rocksmasher with "Trash Heap" to increase the likelihood of mining non-metal materials by up to 300%. Higher tiers of equipment have access to stronger affixes at a higher cost. When selected affixes randomly roll between 2 values which can only be rerolled with spending more dust as well as scraps, acquired from researching items.
Dust and Scraps
In order to add affixes to your gear, you need to use runic dust. To remove affixes from an item you need to spend dust and gear scraps. To reroll the stat bonuses of an affix (You can't reroll to a different affix), you need to spend dust and gear scraps.
Dust can be acquired with either an expensive crafting recipe or by researching equipment. Gear scraps are acquired when a researching action fails, giving you 1 scrap and destroying the equipment.
All equipment has a different rarity and tier. The rarity can be found in the top right of the item, the tier under the gear type. Different tiers give different dusts when researched where as different rarities give different scraps.
There are 5 different tiers of dust: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary. You can only use the respective dust with the respective rarity of gear. For example, you can only use common dust to affix common gear, and so on.
