A shard for creating skilling gear.

Smithing Shards are a type of Skilling Shard associated with Smithing. They are used in the Crafting, Augmenting or Researching of smithing related gear.

Acquisition

Smithing Shards can be acquired passively every 5 minutes by smithing. This rate can be adjusted by equipping either a Newbie Adventurer's Backpack or Dwarven Adventurer's Backpack which gives a +10% / +20% chance for an additional Skilling Shard.

Shards are non tradeable however they can be earned in combat:

Quests

• Earn 1000 Smithing Shard by completing the Smithing Equipment quest.

• Turn in 9000 Smithing Shards to help finish the Legendary Tongs quest to receive a Dwarven Tongs and unlock its crafting recipe.

Crafting Uses

The smithing set recipes must be unlocked by completing the Smithing Equipment quest before they can be crafted.
