Cooking UI

Cooking is a skill that allows raw food to be made edible, healing hitpoints when eaten plus giving various buffs. To do this, the player uses raw, cookable food and heat.

Depending on the player's Cooking level, food will sometimes burn, becoming unusable. Cooking with raw fish also has a chance to produce fish oil. By leveling Cooking, the player is able to cook better foods that give increased healing and better buffs.

Cooking goes hand-in-hand with the Fishing and Foraging skills, as the player can cook using the ingredients they obtain.

Uses

  • You can place it in your inventory to regenerate health in a fight
  • Can be used to obtain various buffs that are useful for many skills
  • Cooking fish has a chance to produce fish oil which can be used with the crafting skill to create pyre logs

Buffs

Eating food created with a few specific ingredients (see below) can give various buffs to help actions similar to enchantments. The amount of stacks given by the buff will be determined by the quality of the food.

Food Buffs with an enchant equivalent will still stack with the enchant effect making it useful to have buffs when doing various activities. All non combat buffs will be consumed even when doing unrelated actions except combat actions. Food buffs for combat can only be eaten in a fight and will not be kept when leaving the fight.

Trivia

  • A useful enchantment to have while cooking is the Cooking enchant. Wearing this while training cooking will cut down time and money due to less food being burnt.
  • An augmented Ladle will also decrease the burn rate. The more it's augmented, the more significant this will be. The Pyromancy Enchantment decreases the amount of heat required for cooking.
