General introduction

Idlescape seasons are events where you can play a special character with special rules specific to that season.

Examples of special buffs are increased XP, extra buffs, or the introduction of new mechanics.

Seasons characters do not add to the active or maximum amount of characters, and can be converted to event tokens after the season ends. When the season ends, the characters are no longer playable and any progress is reset for the next season.

Idlescape seasons are limited-time events where players can dive into the game with a unique seasonal character designed to follow special rules tailored to that season. Each season introduces its own set of special buffs, mechanics, and features, such as increased experience points, powerful extra boosts, or entirely new gameplay mechanics.

Seasonal characters do not count toward a player’s active or maximum character limit, allowing anyone to participate without restrictions. When the season concludes, these characters become unplayable, and their progress resets in preparation for the next season. However, players can convert their seasonal characters into event tokens, ensuring their efforts yield rewards even after the event ends.

Wiki Madness 2

This is a re-run of Wiki Madness 1, updated to the beta 0.22.0 version of idlescape. Notable, this has an updated xp curve compared to wiki madness 1.

Wiki Madness 1

The season starts with buffs to experience gain and an assortment of relatively minor other buffs. Extra buffs can be earned in three ways, achieving level milestones, donating to the shrine, and making edits to the wiki.

Level milestones

Extra uffs are added on reaching milestones such as level 99, and every 10th mastery level [needs confirmation]. Noteably, this can lead to spikes in buffs during the initial first days of the seasons, as the extra buffs allow others to reach those milestones in rapid succession, leading to a positive feedback loop until most players reach the milestones in the easy-to-obtain skills.

Controversies

Wiki Madness has been causing lag to the idlescape server and client, most likely due to the huge number of actions with little time between them, increased messages to the server from milestones reached, and increased enchantment procs..
