Fishing
Fishing is a gathering skill that allows players to catch raw fish. These fish can then be cooked using the cooking skill.
General
Four zones are available for aspiring fishers, each offering different fish to be caught. The time required per fishing action is dependant on the player's haste, and can be lowered with the haste enchantment. Each action, the player has a certain chance of successfully catching one of the fishes available at that location. This chance will start at 20% and gradually increase with increasing level, up to a maximum of 100%. Although the theoretical maximum chance in the last area is 81.3%, this can be boosted to 100% using fishing enchantment scrolls.
The caught fish can be cooked to offer hitpoint replenishment while fighting and various buffs for out of combat actions. See cooking for more information.
Players have a small chance of obtaining sunken treasures. These can be opened for gold and sometimes gems. More importantly, these treasures have a rare chance of dropping talismans used in runecrafting, and an even rarer chance of dropping Modified Diving Gloves or a Forgotten Soul.
Equipment
Different equipment is needed to fish in each individual fishing zone. This equipment is created in the crafting menu. All fishing equipment items are permanent which means players only need 1. While fishing in Lazy River a single feather is consumed for each attempted cast. Feathers can be purchased from the general shop, the market, or obtained by killing chickens in the combat zone Farm. It is possible to vault fishing items and still use them for fishing.
