Potions are liquids that imbue the user with temporary and beneficial magical powers or enchantments. There are tinctures that provide protection in battle or luck in finding treasure. However most potion magics improve productivity by:
- reducing materials or Heat used in production
- increasing the quality or number of resources gathered or goods created
- speeding up item production or material gathering
- improving the chance to find or create a rare material or item

Affects
A potion's affects last one production, gathering or combat turn per potion use. Potions may be stored in inventory or drank in quantity. Their affects can be paused or resumed in game while not in battle.
Drinking potions with identical enchantments but differing power qualities is not additive. For example drinking a potion with Cooking 1 followed by drinking a potion with Cooking 2 does not result in the chef having a Cooking 3 buff. Doing so will place the potion with the higher level (Cooking 2), in queue for consumption before (Cooking 1).
While potions only affect the drinker, some of these buffs can be made available game wide through purchase at the Shrine of Toucan with in-game gold or at the Platinum Shop with real life currency. Potion enchantments are additive to theirerespective global buff as well as additive to buffs caused by wearing enchanted gear possessing the same buff.
Quality
Potions are divided into four levels of quality as designated by the type of potion: Common, Rare, Epic and Legendary with the first being of lowest quality and the rest in ascending quality. The quality of the potion is determined by the number of ingredients used to brew the potion. The highest quality potions require more ingredients and higher Cooking skill to brew. Their enchantments are more powerful than their lower quality counterparts.
Vendor price is not a reflection of a potion's value just as quality is not a reflection of a potion's rarity. Some potions are more 'valuable' due to the scarcity of their ingredients (eg. Intuition potions created from rare sageberries) while others have relatively higher value due to the nature of their enchantment (eg. Empowered Gathering potions provides increased gathering capabilities without the cost of runes in comparison to Gathering potions). The rarest potions are ones that can not be brewed but must be earned in combat such as the Gold Leaf Cook potion which is only dropped by completing the dungeon Master Chicken's Kitchen.
