The Runecrafting skill is further divided into: Runecrafting, Cloth Weaving, and Affix Warding.
Contents
Runecrafting
Runecrafting requires
Rune Slates and essence to empower Runes. These runes are used in: Scrollcrafting, casting magic abilities, gathering or production actions involving specific enchantments, or the Crafting/Augmenting/Researching of certain items.
Every 20 levels will increase the number of runes crafted in an action by 1. Intermediary levels will receive a chance to craft an additional rune depending on how close it is to the next 20 level breakpoint.
Runes/Essence
Before crafting runes, players must first gather essence by performing certain activities.
Rune Slates and 400 essence are consumed by each runecrafting action. The quantity of essence used can be reduced with the Runecrafting enchantment enhancing a piece of worn equipment.
Crafting runes always provides 25 runecrafting experience for each runecrafting action.
Three essence is gathered for each relevant action and can be increased with the Enlightenment enchantment or with the initial consumption of the corresponding talisman.

Talisman
Talismans are artifacts containing magical essence. Talismans can be consumed, permanently yielding an additional six essence for the relevant skill. Each talisman of the same type consumed after the initial one will grant 35,000 - 50,000 essence of the relevant type.
Talismans are uncommon items uncovered from Dungeon Caches, Geodes, Greater Geodes, Bird's Nests, Greater Bird's Nests, Sunken Treasures, Ancient Treasures, and Satchels. Many monsters drop talismans rarely, including the giants inhabiting the Valley of Giants.
Runecrafting Speed
Runecrafting speed is determined by the following formula:
Cloth Weaving
Cloth Weaving produces rune cloth used in crafting and enchanting most magic equipment and items. Weaving uses fibers, which are found while fishing. The Scroll of the Fiber Finder will enhance equipment to increase the chances of finding fibers. Gear with the Fiber Snagging buff will provide a chance for a caught fish to be transformed into a fiber.
There are 7 tiers of cloth that can be woven.
| Cloth | Fiber | # Of Fibers per Action | Experience |
|---|---|---|---|
Rough Cloth |
Aqueous Grass |
5 | 50 |
Restored Cloth |
Aqueous Grass |
10 | 75 |
Lesser Cloth |
Water Weeds |
5 | 125 |
Imbued Cloth |

5 | 200 |
Major Cloth |
Violet Ribbons |
5 | 300 |
Greater Cloth |
White Reeds |
5 | 500 |
Elder Cloth |
Ancient Kelp |
5 | 750 |
The time to weave cloth increases with the tier of the cloth. Enchantments such as Haste or Empowered Haste will decrease cloth weaving time.
Using the Fibrous Fabrication enchantment or equipment like the Elven Logistics Pendant, will reduce the fiber cost per action.
All cloth have a small chance based on runecrafting level and cloth tier to produce an Ancient Cloth Fragment, which is used to craft the Abandoned Academy Scroll to access the Abandoned Academy Base.
Cloth Weaving Speed
Cloth weaving speed is determined by the following formula:
Enchantments
The following enchantments may be useful for Runecrafting.
Scroll |
Slot | Level | Silver Amount | Rune Amount | Runes | Effect per scroll |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Scroll of Efficiency |
Gloves, Boots | 91 | 1500 | 130 | Air, Earth, Fire, Water, Nature | Gain 1% chance to produce an extra item during cooking, smithing, scrollcrafting, and weaving fibers. |
Scroll of Runecrafting |
Gloves, Boots, Chisel | 43 | 500 | 50 | Nature, Mind, Cosmic | Reduces essence used in Runecrafting by 5%. |
Scroll of Essence Concentration |
Gloves, Boots, Chisel | 59 | 700 | 70 | Chaos, Mind, Cosmic | Increases the number of runes crafted per action by 1 as well as increases essence cost by 25%. |
Scroll of Prolonging |
Gloves, Boots | 58 | 700 | 60 | Nature, Mind | Gain a 20% chance to not consume a buff stack (resulting in 25% more uses from a buff on average). |
Scroll of Enlightenment |
Gloves, Boots | 73 | 900 | 70 | Air, Water, Chaos, Mind | Gain 1 more essence per action where essence is acquired. |
Scroll of Wealth |
Ring, Necklace | 37 | 500 | 50 | Nature, Mind, Cosmic | Automatically sells gathering and production items for 20% of their vendor price. Does not affect Crafting or stack with Scholar. |
Scroll of the Scholar |
Ring, Necklace | 88 | 1300 | 110 | Chaos, Mind, Cosmic | Increases experience gained from gathering and production by 20% but destroys the item in process. Does not affect Crafting or stack with Wealth. Only active for mastery experience, when a skill is at level 99. |
Scroll of Haste |
Ring, Necklace | 94 | 2000 | 200 | Air, Chaos, Mind, Cosmic | Increases non-combat action speed by 4%. Caps at halving action time. Stacks with Empowered Haste. |
Scroll of Engraving |
Chisel | 39 | 500 | 50 | Nature, Mind, Cosmic | Gives a 2% chance to not consume rune slates while Runecrafting. |
Affixing
Affix Warding is a subskill that allows further gear enhancement beyond what enchantments allow, ranging from bonus stats to increased odds of actions in a skill, at the cost of Runic Dust. For example, you can affix a Dwarven Rocksmasher with "Trash Heap" to increase the likelihood of mining non-metal materials by up to 300%.
Affixes can be specifically chosen and/or randomly selected for a lesser price. For equipment with more than one affix slot, each slot must have different affix wardings. Higher tiers of equipment have access to stronger affixes at a pricier cost in terms of gold and runic dust amount.
Existing affixes can be rerolled by spending more runic dust, gold and gear scraps. There is no guarantee that the rerolled value will be higher than the original, so there is an option to keep the original value when rerolling.
Affix Wardings can be removed by applying runic dust, gold and gear scraps. However Clearing Affixes will remove all existing affixes on an item.
Dust and Scraps
Applying affixes to gear requires: equipment with available Affix slots,
Gold and Runic Dust (
Basic Runic Dust,
Unusual Runic Dust,
Singular Runic Dust,
Prime Runic Dust or
Mythical Runic Dust).
Removing affixes from an item requires: equipment with existing affix warding(s),
Gold, Runic Dust and gear scraps (
Common Gear Scraps,
Uncommon Gear Scraps,
Rare Gear Scraps,
Epic Gear Scraps, or
Legendary Gear Scraps).
To reroll the stat bonuses of an affix (you can not reroll to a different affix unless affixes are cleared first),
Gold, Runic Dust, and their respective gear scraps are required.
Runic Dust can be acquired from the Marketplace, an expensive crafting recipe, as a combat drop or by researching equipment.
Gear scraps can be obtained from the Marketplace or when a researching action fails, giving 1 scrap and destroying the original researched item. On rare occasions, special items may transform into different items upon failure.
All equipment has a different rarity and tier. The rarity can be found in the top right of the item, the tier under the gear type. Different tiers give different dusts when researched where as different rarities give different scraps.
There are 5 different tiers of dust: Basic, Unusual, Singular, Prime and Mythical Runic Dust. These can only correspond with Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary tiered equipment and items. Basic dust is used to affix common gear, and so on. Similarly, the tier of gear scraps required corresponds to the rarity or tier of the equipment. Legendary Gear Scraps are used to reroll or clear legendary gear with existing affixes.
